Hedeselskabet – partnering with nature
In 1866, Enrico Dalgas co-founded the association Hedeselskabet, and together with a group of enterprising men, he helped the heath farmers transform the barren heath into fertile agricultural land.
Ever since, we have fostered green innovation and left a positive mark on the landscape. Today, as a commercial foundation, Hedeselskabet develops and delivers solutions and services that, with nature at the core, contribute to combating and mitigating climate change for the benefit of both biodiversity and society.

Identity, Purpose, and History
With the founding of Det danske Hedeselskab on March 28, 1866, the foundation was laid for a company that, from the very beginning, made a significant effort to cultivate and transform the Danish heathlands. This mission is reflected in the company’s name: Det danske Hedeselskab.
In close collaboration with our employees, business partners, association members, and through our philanthropic contributions, we embrace social responsibility and help ensure sustainable and responsible development.
A Long History – Briefly Told
With the cultivation of the Danish heathlands came new activities such as meadow irrigation and the planting of forests and shelterbelts. Through these efforts, the company laid the foundation for significant societal development.
Since then, the company has evolved in step with societal progress and is today one of the leading enterprises in the fields of nature, environment, and energy—both in Denmark and internationally.
Hedeselskabet’s roots reach back to a transformative era marked by new ideas, strong civic engagement, and major advancements in knowledge and technology.
At Hedeselskabet, we take pride in our history and remain true to the values that formed the foundation of the company more than 150 years ago. We are committed to continuing its development in the same spirit.

Organisation
Hedeselskabet’s organization encompasses a wide range of activities, all centered around nature.
Our structure includes an executive board, management team, representative council, board of directors, and member committees.

One Strong Community
As an association, we have more than 2,700 members. They elect the majority of our Representative Council, which in turn appoints the Board of Directors. The association focuses on communication and dialogue with both current and potential members.
Our business is divided into six areas: Forest International, Forest Denmark & Trading, Green Services, Seasonal, Landscape & Construction, and Green Investments—all with nature at the core.
Hedeselskabet’s business is an attractive, value-driven workplace with competent, service-minded, and quality-conscious employees. We maintain ongoing dialogue with interest groups, public institutions, and individuals who influence our fields of expertise.
Hedeselskabet’s Purpose Clause
Hedeselskabet ensures that its business operates at a high ethical, professional, and profitable level, with a focus on natural values and resources—both within and outside Denmark.
The organization also actively works to improve living conditions, particularly in rural areas, and to utilize natural resources for the benefit of society through research, development, and communication in the fields of nature, environment, and energy.
Hedeselskabet may construct, acquire, establish, and operate real estate or businesses aligned with its purpose. These business activities are conducted in corporate form with limited liability.

Biodiversitetspark
I Hedeselskabets biodiversitetspark hjælper vi naturen på vej og skaber gode rammer for de naturligt hjemmehørende insekter, dyr og planter. Gennem data, observationer og monitorering kan vi lære mere om naturen, og bruge parken som et levende eksperimentarium.
Hedeselskabets skove
Det er afgørende for fremtiden at rejse mere skov, end vi fælder. Det ved vi i dag. Skoven er nemlig et af naturens væsentligste værktøjer til at optage og binde CO2 fra atmosfæren. Derfor arbejder vi på at rejse endnu mere ny skov, og Hedeselskabet ejer indtil videre over 5.250 ha i Danmark. Og så er vores ambitioner en helt naturlig del af den grønne trepartsaftale fra 2024.

At Hedeselskabet and across our business areas, we work to counteract and mitigate climate change by reducing and offsetting CO₂ emissions, replacing carbon-intensive materials with sustainable alternatives, and implementing climate adaptation solutions.
We also contribute to enhancing biodiversity and develop effective solutions for the full utilization of scarce natural resources and for recycling.

Hedeselskabet flytter hovedkontoret til Aarhus – vender tilbage efter mere end 100 år i Viborg
Efter mere end 100 år i Viborg vender Det danske Hedeselskab nu tilbage til Aarhus. Hovedkontoret flytter til byen, hvor selskabet blev stiftet for 160 år siden i 1866 og markerer dermed et nyt kapitel i Hedeselskabets historie.
Hedeselskabet leverer bedste resultat nogensinde
Hedeselskabet realiserede i 2025 en omsætning på 2,37 mia. kr. og et resultat før skat på 109,4 mio. kr. Det er skabt af høj aktivitet i forretningen og medarbejdernes evne til at levere løsninger inden for skov, natur, klima og landskabsforvaltning.
